To group several objects together so they can be moved or styled as a single unit, select all of the objects and choose Arrange ▸ Group ( Shift-Command-G).Ī group behaves like a single object you can select it, move it around, resize it, use inspectors to change its style and properties, connect lines to it, and so on. Smart Alignment Guides (the light blue lines) appear to help you align objects to one another, while Smart Distance Guides appear beneath the objects so you can space them evenly. So here, we see a text element that is not attached to a shape. And finally, still with the text tool, I'm going to click just up here in the corner to add a title. So as that would imply, this text is going to be attached to that line. And you see that I get what's called a line label. We can go back to the text tool, again, with two clicks. If I go to my selection tool and I move the shape, you'll see that it is sort of locked there. Okay, so you see those text elements are attached to those shapes. I'm going to go ahead and add it to all three. And you see that automatically, we get a text box. And then we're just going to click on any of the shapes.
